Mantel Project

I finished my mantel piece project. I'm moving into a new apartment in a few weeks, which got me into studying different mantel pieces. After looking at some for about two weeks, I dove in
and made some of my own. Its a contemporary outlook on what we project themselves as when they know what the intention of the photograph is. Many people try to act serious if you tell them to do so, but putting the idea that it will be displayed somewhere, like perhaps above a fireplace, the person will begin to project themselves differently. While I was photographing my subjects, I talked about things about them they would want to project, if they wearing any jewelry, or how pretty their hair looked. I also included myself, because I had a need to project myself about my mantel as well.

Looking Up (3)

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately on perceived notions about ourselves. This summer has lent me a lot of time to think, so this is the product of thinking too much.

When a person wakes up in the morning, what do they think? What do they see that influences what they think? I realized that by looking up, we can achieve emotions other than a positive outlook. Looking up, either an outlook on life in which you are "looking up" to what comes next in life. Something good. But what if, perhaps, looking up was taken literally, and not to influence just an emotion of happiness, but a full range of emotions. We can be in many situations in life, by just looking up, our environment can influence our emotions. So I've decided to study this, using a camera as my medium to document it.

subliminal (2)

I saw this tree the day after watching Pineapple Express.

First (1)

I've decided to start an online blog. Part of this blog will be my thoughts on photography, and projects that come to mind. The other part of this blog will be photographs that try to communicate my thoughts and my experiences.

What will become of this?
